Writer Methods - Word Processing [ADDENDUM]
Our L.AS Art Department has found the lost photos.
Good day, Dedicated Life. And Scoreboards Readers. We have an update, and it's good news.
We actually found the photos that were taken the day The Boy discovered the [F5] key in Notepad. For reference, the original article was published in May:
To summarize the article, I profess my love for Notepad because of its simplicity and because when you hit the [F5] function key, it’s prints out the current time and date, a feature I find quite handy.
The [F5] feature was an accidental discovery after I brought the kid to the arena, sat him next to me, opened Notepad on his computer, and let him fart around, typing in Notepad even though he didn’t know how to read yet. When I noticed the time and date printed perfectly on his screen, well, that was a moment that changed my life. (Yeah, that’s a bit dramatic. Yet it is technically true.)
I thought the photos I had taken that day were lost forever so I substituted photos of our dogs at the scoreboard controls as a substitute. Well, thanks to Mr. KLean, head of the L.AS Art Department, we have recovered those rare photos.

Photos Recovered~
It was January 22, 2019 when these photos were taken. I still had an old cellphone at the time so they're only 640x480. We've enlarged them here to 1280x960.
I set the timer on the camera and told him to act like he’s talking on the phone while he’s working. “Let’s pretend to look really busy in these pictures,” I said.
Good Boy.
It was shortly after that photo was taken that I saw the time and date typed perfectly in his text file. We switched seats while I investigated.
How did you do that? Ah, [F5]. Pretty cool.
Why don’t we celebrate? Run the Avs Goal animation to all the boards in the arena.
You’re a pretty good kid, you know that?
One last thing~
There is actually a second addendum to that original May article.
While moving into our new offices, L.AS IT installed a system-wide Windows update.
Guess what?
Notepad has been updated too. We’re now running Notepad version 11.2504.62.0.
It’s now got six levels of headings for titles, subtitles, etc.; bold and italicized text; bulleted and numbered lists; even embedded internet links.
Wowee, all of a sudden Notepad is stepping out in a tuxedo, cane and top hat.
I haven’t used any of those features. Fortunately, there’s also a button that removes all of that with one click.
THE END_
